John Haven’s leadership in growing businesses started with SEI which is now the largest 2D seismic data owner (1,850,000 miles) and one of the largest 3D seismic data owners (50,000 miles) in North America. John and his wife, Terri, followed a personal passion in promoting a healthy lifestyle by growing Cal-a-Vie, a spa near San Diego, to be named the #1 destination health spa by Travel & Leisure Magazine. John and Terri also own Vista Valley Country Club, a private club in California, and are part owner of Houston Oaks Golf Club (formerly Tennwood Country Club) in the greater Houston area. For five years, John was the second largest investor in the Houston Astros and was the team’s vice-chairman. John sold off a portion of his ownership interest in 2017 but remains a dedicated and active investor and supporter of the Astros. Prior to owning an interest in the Astros, John was an investor in the Texas Rangers baseball team. John is also Chairman of the YPO Gold Houston Chapter and serves on the Board of the Alpha Cognition Group.
John has received several honors for his philanthropic efforts. John was inducted into the LSU Hall of Distinction and he and Terri were voted one of the most outstanding couples in Houston by Inspire Women, the 2012 Gala honorees and recipients of the Krist Samaritan Spirit Award, honorees of the 2014 Houston Children’s Charity Gala and the 2015 Houston Hospice Award honorees. John and Terri Havens have found a perfect balance of success coupled with an active household of three children, Prentiss 24, Davis 22 and Mallette 21. The Havens have been married 33 years and have put their heart into causes that are dear to them as evidenced by their many philanthropic endeavors.
